Part of the fit test is a written blueprint test to make sure they can read blueprints and complete necessary calculations for fitting.
Our ideal candidate would be a Journeyman welder with exceptional blueprint reading and fabrication skills. They need to be proficient in TIG & MIG for welding aluminum. This position is the most advanced welding position we have in the company and their skillset needs to match. If a candidate is sent, they need to come prepared to take our blueprint comprehension test first, which if they pass, will be followed by a weld test.
Weld Test to Pass:
Machine and Equipment Used: Hand tools, electric and gas welding equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, sets-up, maintains, and performs the most complex precision welding operations using any standard or specialized welding techniques, equipment, tools necessary to accomplish the work assignment.
- Fabricates from drawings, rough sketches or verbal instructions a wide variety of structural, vacuum or pressure components from various metals including stainless steel, low carbon steel, copper, aluminum, and titanium.
- Inspects own work to assure conformance with specifications. · Applies knowledge of metallurgical properties related to welding including annealing, hardening, warping, and distortion.
- Routinely uses various tools such as squares, surface gauges, vernier calipers, and positioners; and may employ mass spectrometer leak detectors to assure vacuum integrity.
- Torch brazes similar and dissimilar metals, using inert gas chambers as required. · Implements optimum welding methods and techniques where standardized procedures are not available and advises possible improvements in standardized methods.
- Designs and fabricates jigs and fixtures to hold required tolerances. · May provide technical advice and train less skilled welders.
- May provide work directions and guidance to others as needed.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE · Three (3) years directly related work experience or two (2) years of concentrated welding training. · Highschool Diploma or GED required, AA in technical field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS · Able to lift to a maximum of 25-40 lbs. · Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
Pay $22.00 hr. to $26.00 hr.
