Custodian/Maintenance Worker

Position Details

Schedule: Wednesday – Friday: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM | Saturday: Variable hours Must be available to work weekends and nights

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a dedicated Custodian/Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of general building and grounds cleaning and maintenance tasks at their facility. This role requires flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and facility upkeep.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Properly sweep, mop, wax, and buff floors
• Gather and dispose of all trash and waste materials
• Clean walls, windows, lighting fixtures, window tops, and door frames
• Operate and maintain mechanical cleaners and polishers
• Change light bulbs as needed
• Maintain janitor closet and report supply needs to management

Additional Duties

• Assist with moving objects and furniture as required
• Complete delivery of department items
• Perform grounds maintenance tasks
• Execute other duties as assigned by management

Required Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of common cleaning tools including brooms, mops, dust mops, vacuums, scouring devices, wax applicators, and buffers
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately
• Capability to perform routine repetitive tasks continuously
• Strong attention to detail for maintaining cleanliness standards
• Ability to move, carry, and deliver objects to various work areas
• Skills in maintaining and caring for cleaning equipment
• Effective communication skills with employees and management (in person, radio, telephone)

Physical Requirements

• Stand for up to 1 hour per task duration
• Walk for up to 2 hours per task duration
• Sit for up to 30 minutes per task duration
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• Climb ladders for up to 10 minutes daily
• Maintain balance while performing duties
• Stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle objects for up to 2 hours daily

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience working with cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and general cleaning required

Availability: Must be available to work nights and weekends as required
